Ripped jeans are coming back!
The questions is, is this trend a hit or miss?
Many of you will have seen the youngest Jenner, Kylie’s, Instagram picture of her and celebrity hair/make-up artist friend Etienne Ortega’s legs. Just their legs you ask? Yep. But even this little pic of their legs have gotten near enough 600,000 likes. So what’s so special?
Well, both Jenner and Ortega are sporting Kendall and Kylie’s high rise skinniest jeans from Kendall and Kylie’s Pacsun collection. Have no fear though; you and a friend could be worth 600,000 likes. The jeans retail for £41.00 on the Pacsun website.
The jeans themselves are high-waisted and super skinny; skinny jeans or no jeans right? But it gets even better; the jeans are jet black and on the website are paired with black little booties! And who doesn’t love booties? The rips escalate from above the knee to below the crotch. Perfect for girls who are insecure about their knees or lower legs as unlike most ripped jeans the grungy tears are high and very flattering to the insecure.
Also, Topshop stock ripped jeans. Their most popular ripped jeans named ‘Ripped Jamie Jeans” come in two options, super ripped or regular. They also have ripped boyfriend and MOM jeans (not to my taste but worth the mention). Although the Jamie jeans are slightly more expensive than the Pacsun jeans they are a great dupe for us girls not willing to spend all of our wages on postage and packaging.
Lastly, the cheapest dupe I’ve found on the market have to be ripped Primark jeans which come to an amazingly affordable £13. Although I’ve only seen Primark’s endeavours in the form of boyfriend jeans and not skinny I think we should keep our eyes open.
However, does anyone want to pay £45 for jeans that aren’t even whole? Personally, I would. I would pair my ripped jeans with a pair of black combat boots, a white graphic tee, a leather jacket and maybe even a black beanie. I love the grungy jeans and think they’d be perfect for the heat as wearing jeans with a built in AC system might save us from sweating so much. Less sweat the less we need to touch up our make-up, right girls?
I also think this trend would be perfect on boys too, maybe not the lighter colours but definitely black would suit any boy who dares to try a new edgy look.
